Foot Reflexology

Solutions > Reflexology

A Reflexology treatment can be done on the hands, feet, or ears. The principle behind the treatment is that the feet, hands and ears are each like a miniature model of the whole body. That means every body part, every limb and bone, every organ, every gland, is represented and can be stimulated by the gentle techniques of the Reflexology treatment.

During a Reflexology treatment certain areas may be very tender. This is usually an indication that the area represented by that reflex is in need of a little healing. Working the reflex helps that corresponding body part strengthen and clear so it can function better.

Another important factor that makes a Reflexology treatment unique is that it helps the whole body. Very few natural healing modalities work to help all the body components in one single treatment. This is important because none of your body systems or parts functions independently of the rest of your body. Everything works in synchronicity with everything else. If something is out of whack, it will be affecting other systems, and so the chain continues. Like a row of standing dominoes, the initial weakness will transfer onto other systems of the body.

Reflexology is also very relaxing. Even though some reflexes may be tender, the aim of the treatment is to help you relax, and come to a state of calm. When our sympathetic nervous system is triggered we are in a tight, stressed state and that is one which inhibits healing. This is commonly called the "fight or flight response," and in our modern world this state is triggered numerous times. Your body heals much faster when you are calm and relaxed. Reflexology increases the influence of the parasympathetic nervous system causing blood flow to return to the internal organs, and decreases an accelerated heart rate.

Reflexology is good for:

  • Improving circulation
  • Improving digestion
  • Calming stress
  • Restoring balance to the body
  • Balancing hormones
  • Helps lower blood pressure

Particulars:

A Reflexology treatment takes from forty-five minutes to a full hour to complete. In that space of time you will be completely relaxed and your body will be ready to restore itself to a healthier level.

Reflexology treatments are received fully clothed, and either reclining on a massage table or in a zero gravity recliner chair. The shoes and stockings are removed so the feet (and you) can enjoy the treatment.
